The Physical Therapy profession utilizes selected knowledge and skills in directing programs for the care of individuals with disease or injury that impairs the ability to function. This may be related to neuromusculoskeletal, pulmonary and cardiovascular systems. Methods of evaluation of the function of these systems include selection and application of appropriate therapeutic procedures to maintain, improve or restore function.
Aquatic Therapy and Rehabilitation utilizes knowledge of movement mechanics and science (anatomy, physiology, kinesiology and biomechanics) including the cardiovascular, repiratory, circulatory, nervous, muscular and skeletal systems and collective interactions. Implementation of activities and exercise in the water corresponds to each diagnosis. Techniques are assigned to each population ranging from Arthritis, Fibromyalgia, Hip and Knee Replacements, Shoulder injuries and Sports injuries.
Water Aerobics is a workout designed to burn fat and tone muscles. Water is the only environment where both goals can be accomplished in the same workout with minimal risk of injury. The water supports the body and the bouyancy reduces the pull of gravity creating a perfect environment for exercise. It creates the resistance needed to strenghthen muscles, burn calories and lubricate joints with minimal impact.
Supervision and direction of a Physical Therapist Assistant and Aide is provided by a qualified, licensed Physical Therapist. Patients are treated as ordered by the Physician, and new patients are scheduled as timely as possible within receipt of an order. Services are provided to Inpatients at the Hospital and Nursing Home, and Outpatients at the Clinic.
Equipment and supplies required for all modalities, wound care, therapeutic exercise and Rehab ordered is available. All employees providing direct patient care practice Universal Precautions and follow HIPPA Regulations concerning confidentiality of Patient information and medical records.
