Physical Exam

An annual physical exam gives you control over your health and is one of the best ways to maintain good health.

What you can expect from your doctor:

A review of your health history, along with a head-to-toe check in order to identify and pro-actively address any concerns.
An overview of medications to ensure they are working for you and that they are taken properly.
Will check that you are up-to-date and aware of vaccinations.
May draw blood to test for certain conditions or may order other lab work.
Suggest any appropriate screenings and tests.
Will give you time to talk about your health concerns.

How to prepare for an annual exam:

After scheduling a visit, ask if you should arrive with an empty stomach or if there is anything else you should do.
Make a list of health concerns you want to discuss.
Make a list of all medications you take; both prescriptions and over-the-counter drugs, vitamins, and supplements because some may interact with your medications. Note how often and how much you take of each.
Provide a family medical history with as much detail as possible.
Provide a list of all healthcare providers involved in your care.
